Web Design in Vancouver

Custom WordPress websites for businesses across Vancouver and the Tri-Cities. Built from a blank canvas, not a purchased template, so the site stays yours and stays fast.

We are a small studio in Port Coquitlam. You talk to the person building your site, not an account manager. Every project starts with a fixed quote and a fixed launch date.

What a Business Website Costs in Vancouver

Vancouver is one of the more expensive web design markets in Canada. Agency hourly rates here sit roughly 20 to 50 percent above smaller Canadian cities, and quotes for the same brief regularly differ by a factor of ten. That gap is almost never about quality. It is about what each quote quietly leaves out.

Here is what we charge, and what each tier includes.

Starter site, from $1,300

Three to five pages. Right for a new business, a single service, or anyone who needs a credible presence quickly. Custom design, mobile layouts built separately rather than squeezed down, contact form, Google Analytics and Search Console set up, and basic on-page SEO on every page.

Business site, from $2,300

Six to twelve pages. Our most common project. Everything above plus a service page for each thing you sell, a location page for each area you serve, blog setup, review and testimonial sections, and keyword research before a single page is designed so the structure matches what people actually search.

Online store, from $3,300

WooCommerce build with product templates, filtering, payment and shipping setup, and a checkout tested on real devices. Pricing moves with catalogue size and integrations. More detail on our e-commerce web design page.

Already have a site that needs fixing rather than replacing? That is a different conversation, and usually a cheaper one. See website redesign.

Why We Never Start From a Purchased Theme

Most WordPress agencies buy a theme, drop your logo into it, and swap the demo content. It is fast and it is why so many small business sites look interchangeable. It also creates a problem you do not see until year two.

A purchased theme comes with bundled plugins that only work while the theme author keeps paying for the licences. When that author stops updating, and a lot of them do, your site is frozen. You cannot update WordPress without breaking the layout, and you cannot fix the layout without rebuilding.

We call our approach the Solid Maple Build. Nothing is inherited. Every section is built for your content, so nothing loads that your site does not use, and no third party outside this project controls whether your site keeps working.

Who Can Edit the Site After It Launches

You can. Text, images, prices, hours, staff, blog posts, new pages built from sections that already exist on your site. We hand over a short screen recording walking through your specific site, not a generic WordPress manual.

What you should not do yourself is anything structural. Changing URLs, editing page titles, deleting pages, or installing plugins can undo search visibility in ways that are not obvious for months. Ask us first. That question is free.

WordPress Plugins

What It Costs to Keep a Site Running

Any agency that tells you a WordPress site costs nothing to maintain is either not maintaining it or not telling you the whole story. WordPress core, PHP, and plugins all need updating, mostly for security, and a site left alone for two years is a site waiting to be broken into.

Here is the real number. Hosting runs roughly $150 to $300 a year depending on the plan. Your domain is around $25 a year. Plugin licences on a typical build come to roughly $100 to $200 a year.

Our care plan is $95 a month and covers updates, daily backups kept off the server, uptime monitoring, security scanning, and up to one hour of content changes. It is optional. If you would rather handle it yourself, we will show you how and you keep every login.

Template, Custom Build, or Site Builder

Three honest answers, and only one of them is us.

online store redesign

Squarespace or Wix makes sense if you need something live this week, you have under five pages, and you will maintain it yourself. It is genuinely fine for that. The ceiling arrives when you need custom functionality or serious SEO, and moving off the platform later means rebuilding.

A purchased WordPress theme from a cheap developer gets you something that looks professional for two years. Then the maintenance bill arrives all at once. If the quote is under a thousand dollars, this is what you are buying.

A custom build costs more up front and makes sense when the website is a real channel for your business, when you need it to rank, or when you want to keep adding to it for years without starting over.

Discovery & Consultation

What You Actually Own When We Are Done

Everything. The domain stays in your name and always has. Hosting is your account with your billing. You get the WordPress admin login, the FTP details, the Analytics and Search Console properties under your own Google account, and every source file.

There is no proprietary platform to stay subscribed to and no hostage situation if you decide to work with someone else. Ask any agency this question before you sign. The answer tells you a lot.

strategy and planning

Websites in English and Farsi

Metro Vancouver is one of the most multilingual business markets in Canada, and a large share of local searching happens in languages other than English. For businesses serving a specific community, a second language version opens up search terms with real volume and almost no competition.

We build fully bilingual English and Farsi websites, with proper right to left layout rather than a translation plugin bolted on, and separate SEO for each language. If your customers are part of Vancouver’s Iranian community, this page is in Farsi.

Content Creation

How the Project Runs, Week by Week

Week one, questions before design

We go through your services, your customers, and the competitors already ranking above you. Keyword research happens here, because page structure should follow search demand rather than an org chart. You get a sitemap and a written scope with a fixed price and a launch date.

Weeks two and three, design

Homepage design first, so we agree on direction before the rest is built. Two rounds of revisions included. Once the homepage is signed off, inner pages follow the same system.

Weeks four and five, build

Everything gets built for real content, not placeholder text. Mobile is designed separately rather than squeezed down. Speed and structure are handled as we go, not bolted on afterwards.

Week six, launch

Testing on real devices, redirects mapped from every old URL, Analytics and Search Console connected, and a walkthrough recording for you. Then two weeks of free adjustments after launch.

Six weeks is typical for a business site. Starter sites are usually three to four. The single biggest thing that slows a project down is waiting on content, so we tell you exactly what we need in week one.

Data Retention

What Happens to Rankings When You Relaunch

This is where most redesigns quietly fail. A new site launches, the old URLs disappear without redirects, and three months later traffic has halved and nobody connects the two events.

Every rebuild we do includes a full map of your existing URLs, a 301 redirect for each one, and a check that titles and headings carry across. If your current site ranks for something, we find out what before we touch anything. That is also why we handle SEO and local SEO in house rather than handing you a list for someone else to implement.

Businesses We Build For

Clinics, contractors, trades, print and manufacturing, retail, personal services, and professional practices across Vancouver, Burnaby, Coquitlam, Port Coquitlam, Port Moody, New Westminster, Richmond and Surrey.

Some industries have specific requirements, so we build for them differently. Trades and home services, for example, live or die on emergency calls and service area coverage. See HVAC website design for how that changes the build.

Recent Work

Three builds, three different problems. Every claim below is on the live sites.

Vanco Heating, HVAC, Vancouver

An HVAC company serving the entire Lower Mainland has a coverage problem, not a design problem. Someone in Lynn Valley with no heat at 9pm is not searching the same way as a property manager in Kerrisdale planning a boiler replacement, and one page cannot answer both.

We built the site around the two things that decide an HVAC call: where you are and how urgent it is. Separate pages for Vancouver, North Vancouver, Maple Ridge and the surrounding areas, each one written down to neighbourhood level rather than repeating the same text with a city name swapped, so Deep Cove, Edgemont Village, Capilano and Hastings-Sunrise all read like they were written for that street. Individual pages for furnaces, air conditioning, boilers, water heaters, tankless systems and duct cleaning. And a dedicated 24/7 emergency page, because the emergency customer is the most valuable one and should never have to hunt through a services menu to find a phone number.

Live and expanding since 2025.

MD Medical Clinic, family practice, North Vancouver and Port Coquitlam

Two clinics on one website is where most multi-location businesses lose search traffic. Combine both addresses onto a single page and Google has no clear signal for either location, so neither ranks well in its own city.

We gave each clinic its own page with its own hours, phone, email, team and patient registration form, and made choosing a location the first thing the homepage asks. Alongside that, a separate page for each service patients actually search by name, including the IUD clinic, walk-in and family practice, men’s health, travel vaccines and cosmetic services, rather than burying them in a single list.

The structure held up outside the site too. HealthLink BC and other provincial directories now link directly to the North Vancouver clinic page rather than a generic homepage, which is exactly what a location page is supposed to earn.

Firebird Prints, custom apparel and promotional products, East Vancouver

A print shop running since 1994 sells dozens of things that people search for by completely different names. Someone looking for team hoodies, someone pricing conference lanyards, and someone who needs shirts by Friday are three different buyers with three different questions.

We built a page for each of those paths instead of one long product list. Premium t-shirts, activewear, promotional products, trade show displays, banners and signage each get their own page, with the print methods explained in plain terms so a customer can tell whether they need DTF, screen printing or embroidery before they ask for a quote. Rush and same day work got its own page, because urgency is a search term.

Every path ends in a quote request rather than a checkout, which suits a business where the artwork, the quantity and the deadline all change the price.

Signs You Need a Rebuild, Not a Refresh

  • Your site is not usable on a phone, or it works but nobody would want to use it
  • Nobody can update it without calling a developer
  • It runs on an abandoned theme, or nobody knows what it runs on
  • It takes more than three seconds to load on mobile
  • It has never produced an enquiry you can point to
  • The last update was more than three years ago

If two or more of these are true, patching is usually more expensive than rebuilding.

Questions Vancouver Business Owners Ask

We are in Port Coquitlam and most of our clients are across Metro Vancouver, which is where knowing the local market matters. We take work elsewhere in Canada when it is a good fit.

The same person you speak to on the first call. No account manager layer, no offshoring, no junior learning on your project.

My name is Arash Khalaj and I have been building websites for over 17 years. I started Maple Web Design in Port Coquitlam and I still do the design and the build myself, which is the main reason we stay small. You will have my direct number, and when something breaks at an inconvenient time, you are not filing a ticket.

Your logo and brand files if you have them, photos, and the text for your services. If you do not have text, we can write it. If you do not have photos, we will tell you what to shoot and how.

A new site is built to rank, which is not the same as ranking. Structure, speed, page titles and internal linking are all handled during the build, and that is the foundation. Actually competing for searches in a market like Vancouver takes ongoing work. Our SEO pricing covers what that looks like.

Often, yes, and we will say so if that is the cheaper answer. Start with website redesign and we will tell you honestly whether it is worth keeping.

60 percent to start and 40 percent at launch. Fixed price agreed in writing before any work begins, so the number on the quote is the number on the invoice.
